Caffeinating in LA: Part 3

Updated: Jan 12, 2023

We're in the midst of a pandemic and one of the few places we can go to are coffee places. Aaaah, caffeine, keeping workers working and students studenting for generations and generations. So to mark the times, and to give credit to local coffee places here in LA, here's the sequel to my previous Caffeinating in LA: Part 1 and Caffeinating in LA: Part 2 posts.

Andante Coffee Roasters is a great local coffee roaster located in a happening part of Echo Park. They have an amazing selection of coffee for however you want to take your coffee. I've tried their espresso drink and their drip coffee and both are amazing! They have a branch in DTLA just down the street from Bottega Louie too so you can have great coffee when you eat your awesome pastry.

Serving the SFV years one awesome espresso drink at a time from a literal kiosk where every square inch is maximized for coffee making space. They even made space for a pastry case just for us! Tip: They're at the entrance to Irohi Sushi's parking lot - just to help you find it.

This Culver City roaster now has other branches in LA but this super busy (pre-pandemic) coffee shop has been pulling in local workers and families for years. If a barista asks you how your interview went while making you your favorite coffee, you know you're in a great neighborhood hangout.

Yes! Awesome coffee made by awesome baristas. Get their Lavender Latte which uses housemade lavender syrup. Grab some of their beans too 'coz you’re going to want to make some of that goodness at home too. By the way, they have this Coffee Cake which is reminiscent of cafeteria school lunches. Also, they have a really sweet outdoor patio where you can enjoy your coffee -- complete with fire pit!

Their Spanish Latte is great! Although to be perfectly honest, I probably won't order that again because it's too sweet. That's a personal preference though, so don't mind me. Did get an Iced Latte too and I would definitely order that again!!!! They have these stairs a few doors down from them which you should use to take a walk around the neighborhood. They're really cool!

Woodcat uses their beans to make that awesome Cortado which had the perfect amount of tartness - which to me is not too tart at all. Just sweet chocolatey smoothness here. Their cashier is set up at the entrance so you won't have to enter the premises at all. Grab and go.

Neighborhood Coffee is open early in the morning which is great because the meters on the street aren't running yet. Their cashier set up by their large window eliminates the need to "go inside" to order a drink. Which brings me to their La Brea Latte made with ginger molasses which I highly suggest you order. Don't worry, there won't be a super strong raw ginger flavor that will make you gag. Just great sweetened coffee with a bit of spice.

If the clean light awesome taste of Silverback Coffee of Rwanda doesn't convince you to come visit, then their awesome cause would. Buying their coffee helps more than one cause: the silverback gorillas, the victims of Rwandan genocide, local Rwandan farmers and Rwandan female entrepreneurs.

I came for the Cortado but came back because of their Blue Bowl. What a great start to my day: A bowl of fruit and granola that filled up my tummy without making me feel bloated and weighed down. Note: Alfie Allen sighting while I was in there. I soooooooooo wanted to ask if I could take a picture with him but chickened out big time

I came because of their super pretty signature Rose Latte and discovered the coffee is actually pretty darned good! They have a Lavender Latte too which I will be sure to try when they re-open.

Update: Caffe Luxxe now offers Lavender Latte
