Caffeinating in LA: Part 5

Updated: Aug 5, 2023

Here is the much delayed Part 5 of my "Caffeinating in LA" (meaning LA City) series.

2580 W. Olympic Blvd. Unit #2, Los Angeles CA 90006

(213) 674-7381

I have never enjoyed a coffee space more than here at Coffee MCO. The design is inviting and the decor gives all the fuzzy feelings with all the album covers that shaped our youth. The records aren't just for looks either - the music coming out of hidden speakers really set the mood. Awesome Cohen Latte and great nice merch.

An awesome coffee shop in DTLA with a beautiful space selling awesome espresso drinks. There is no outdoor seating but there are plenty inside. And you would most definitely want to sit inside - light and airy with high ceilings can provide you with a great atmosphere for working or hanging. On top of that, the coffee is fantastic. It's strong enough for the Latte and Mocha.

7051 Willoughby Ave, Hollywood CA 90038 (323) 763-8588

Currently the only LA branch for this San Francisco coffee, this location serves up more than just their own roasted coffee; they have a retail store, a mini market, and plenty of chairs and tables if you decide to enjoy your coffee on site. They also roast the beans at this location! Try their Vanilla Paste Latte; it is awesome!

7509 Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles CA 90046

Oh so good Vanilla Latte that was made to sip, not gulp. If I only had the time, I would sit down and enjoy this beautiful space too - this was definitely designed for lounging. The Avocado Toast is very good too. I'm so glad Hollywood has a lot to offer in way of coffee than Starbucks.

18600 Ventura Blvd, Tarzana, CA 91356

(818) 938-9304

A coffee shop opened in a coffee-desolate section of Ventura Blvd in the Valley in Tarzana during the pandemic. While currently under construction, they've set up shop on the sidewalk outside but it is complete and the space couldn't have been better designed to accommodate families catching up over great coffee and great toasts.

816 S. Grand Ave., Los Angeles CA 90017

So glad Andante DTLA survived the stay-at-home orders and even thrived at this location. Still serving up fantastic espresso drinks for the workers and residents of South Park LA. Lovely baristas and fantastic offerings.

2100 W Washington Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90018

Great coffee in the West Adams area. Friendly baristas and large work tables for the digital nomads

2472 Glendale Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90039

(818) 839-5646

Blink and you just might miss this coffee shop found at the back end of a long shopping center. Trust your GPS and search this place out because they have great espresso drinks and great plant selections for sale, if you're into that kind of thing. Their Purple Rain Tea is a hit with the girls.

Stumptown Coffee Roasters

806 S. Santa Fe St, LA CA 90021

We're very glad that this Stumptown institution decided to open a location here in LA. This Portland coffee was one of my first experiences with hair-bendingly strong espresso drinks. Yeah, it's a pun on one of their signature roasts. Seriously though, this place is great and is perfectly located culturally.

950 E 3rd St, Ste 102, Los Angeles CA 90013

You will get East-meets-West vibes in this beautiful coffee shop where you could curl up and catch up with friends and family. The strong espresso drinks and the pretty-and-yummy Avi Toast makes it easier to stay and lounge.
