Ferndale: An Entirely Victorian Village

Updated: Aug 30, 2020

First time I heard of the City of Ferndale was at Legoland California of all places. Legoland had these miniature models of different cities like New York and Los Angeles and one of the miniaturized cities was Ferndale.

At first I thought it was fictional. And then I did a bit of googling and found out that there is a city named “Ferndale” in California and it does have a Main Street that looked just like the Legoland miniature!

More research ensued: Where is this Ferndale? How far is it from where I Iive? What other things to see in the surrounding area? For over two years, Ferndale has been on the back of my mind, so of course we had to go there the first opportunity we got.

And boy am I glad I did.

The Post Office is so quaint!

There’s a public restroom right there on Main Street right next to the Post Office for your convenience too! And by the way, the restroom blends right in.

Stop by for coffee at Mind’s Eye Manufactory & Coffee Lounge and you’ll get much more than coffee. You can chat with friends, play a board game, or read one of their books. What makes Mind’s Eye unique is that it is also a craftsman’s workshop. So stop on by for the chance to see an artist at work!

If you're looking for a place to stay, these two hotels are right on the main drag and fit the aesthetics: Victorian Inn and Ivanhoe Hotel
